hey whats up i got a question i have a 2000 ranger 3.0 with a k&n 2nd genertaion fpik intake, with magnaflow catback exhaust system. what else can i do to get more power out of my block short of nos or cylinder bores i was thinkn electronic supercharger or turbo but i dont wnt to spend the money on that so for short money what can i do

Underdrive pulley and electric fan would help to free up some power.

also 1.7 roller rockers are an easy upgrade. A good programmer wouldn't hurt things either.

Biggest bang for the buck for the 3.0 is an upgrade in gearing (4.10's, 4.56's) and forced induction.

Whipple did make a supercharger for it a while back. They are no longer in production and are a ebay "gold" find.

The roller rockers will add a bit of "butt" dyno feel, and make things run a bit smoother at higher rpms.

i have a 3.0 with 4.10s from factory...it seems kindof gutless on the road..but off-road if i want to get threw some mud its decent...its my DD and im 17 dont know how long im gna keep it..prob till after college

would underdog pullies and new rockers be a decent upgrade for alittle more kick??

and sorry not trying to steal the thread....

I have the underdog pulleys setting right here by me. I can't wait to get them on. I have heard pretty good things about the 1.7 roller rockers also. Headers or 1.7 roller rockers are my next step.

If u want more power out of your 3.0 L V6 but don't have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend.

1.) 1.7 ratio Roller Rockers
2.) Underdrive Pulleys
3.) Port and Polish your Intake Manifold (Free)
4.) Re-gear Axles to 4.10
5.) A JET Performance Programmer (Got one on my truck and I love it)

I personally feel that your exhaust system does play a somewhat important role in performance situations. If u want to get the most performance out of your exhaust system, get Mandrel-Bent Pipe. It doesn't get smaller in diameter on the bends like regular exhaust pipe does. It increases the flow of your exhaust. More Flow, Mo' Power

Hope this helps.

Underdrives are a must IMO. An electric fan adds a little bacon as well.

My next mod will be a composite upper. It's supposed to help torque production in the 2000-2500 range--which the 3.0 desperately needs.

Which year did the composite upper become available?

Don't bother with the e-fan... Re-gearing is your best bet, or... Just drive it like Ford made it... Increasing horsepower and low budget really don't go hand in hand too well... You can do everything listed here and MIGHT gain 5-10hp if you're lucky...

Does an air intake do any justice? And if so, what kind and what brand do you guys think would help.

I'm just trying to gain more knowledge here. There's always two sides on the argument of whether air intakes really work or if they just give a vacuum(go-fast) sound.

Oh and lastly, do you think any of this increases MPGs, even if it's only a little?

How does forced induction effect mpg?

Your truck already has a cold are intake, if you don't do much sand/dusty conditions you can get a "high-flow" filter.

How does forced induction effect mpg?

Low boost 2-5 PSI CAN read CAN increase MPG because your motor does not have to "suck" in the air, it's getting blown in there, but in reality id hurts your MPG cause you can't keep your foot out of it.

So a K&N complete system would not be worth it?

If I use a high flow filter, does it make a difference which brand I choose?
