3.0 L V code Date Break

Can anyone tell me difference in a flex fuel engine, re:these dates

When you search for an engine this is the choice you get.

6-183 (3.0L), VIN V (flex fuel), thru 7/26/99
6-183 (3.0L), VIN V (flex fuel), from 7/27/99

we are replacing an engine in a 1999 ranger and would like to what is different

You can swap them... you will need your wiring harness and motor mounts and the motors can be switched. The main diffrence is in the heads, they changed from 8mm to 7mm valve stems and the newer motor are rated at 5hp and 10ft-lbs(estimates) of torque more
