im looking to buy a 99 ranger with the 3.0 and a 5 speed, it has 122,000 miles, does that sound like alot of miles for these motors? and how good are those motors? i had a 96 ranger 5speed with the 2.3 and i loved it and it held up to every beating i gave it..so i just want to know a little about the 3.0 thanks alot

1. No
2. Strong bottom end

Mine has 125,000 and it runs like it new. They aren't real quick though, but reliable.

okay cool, and is there anything specific that i should look for on the truck? like a usual oil leak or anything like that?

I would check all the usual places. The main seals, valve covers, distributor/cam positioning sensor. If you are planning a hot rod, you might want to consider a 4.0. Performance parts are limited and some are rather pricey.
