02 3.0 AT bought an engine from a junk yard it ran before it was pulled put it in go to start it wont start but trying to fire i double triple check my plug wires changed coil still wouldn't start changed and 4 with 5 plug wires at the plugs and it started but ran like it was still out of time with a loud metal on metal noise any ideas

Are the plug wires on the right plugs? that real easy to mess up and will cause it to run horribly if even.

So an engine needs fuel, air, and spark, right? Since you seem to have spark covered, check your fuel and air. Make sure its getting fuel and has good fuel pressure.

the timing is controlled electronically so its not likely its out of time. As for the loud metal on metal noise, I have no idea but that doesn't sound good.

is it a chirping noise (metalic sound?), the cam syncronizers are known to go out on these things, which can cause timing issues.

The metal on metal noise should be outside the engine..If you haven't opened up the engine.. So look at the fan blades hitting something and then look at the flywheel area.. THEN look to the starter. I've had replacement engines that required a different gear on the starter from the engine I took out..
