Well i got my hands on a Cherrybomb Glasspack for my Ranger and i'm trying to figure out how to mount it to the existing pipe. I'm using clamps for the simple fact it's able to be moved farther towards the rear of the truck if needed. However the problem i'm running into is the Glasspack i got is 2 in for both the inlet and outlet. I think that my pipe on the ranger is 2 in though i'm not sure. Basically what i need to know is will i need any adapters to make it work? It's not flanged, though if it comes down to it i can take it back to Autozone and exchange it for a flanged one. I stuck it up to the end of my exhaust pipe and once i cut the old muffler off i think i could make it fit into the existing pipe it would just be a tight fit. Then again from what i know of exhaust, tight is good because less chance of leaks.

Recap
What diameter is on my truck?
How to hook the Glasspack into the existing pipe?

Feel free to ask questions if your unsure on what i'm trying to explain. As for going with the Cherrybomb it wasn't my first choice but due to monetary constraints i ended up with it. So in the future i will probably upgrade but it will have to do for now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well if its anything like most of the Fords I have seen/owned the tailpipe flairs out just a little bit over the rest of the pipe. If worse come to worse all you have to get is some pipe adaptors. How long is your glasspack? I only ask cause generally I have found glasspacks don't sound the best on rangers. But longer ones are ok...

The glasspack is right around 27 or 28 inches. I have been told they don't always sound good, though i hope it will. I basically payed 5 bucks for it so i'm not out a whole lot if it don't sound the best.

2'' slips right on.

just make sure after you get the exhaust hot to go and re tighten the clamps. this will keep them from getting loose.

Thanks. You just saved me a whopping 3 dollars on a coupler thought i would need. :headbang: That equals about 13 miles of drive time or one gallon of gas in my truck. lol. Anywho, glad to know. That will make my life easier. Now i just gotta get oil for the compressor and i'll be in business.

Thanks again folks.

I get 13 mpg. I have 2 inch spacers under the front coils, 2 inch blocks under the rear, and then 31X10.5 All terrains on 15 inch rims. So yeah she is a gas guzzler. Though even when it was stock i still only got about 15 to 17 mpg at best.

That doesn't sound right, unless you have pretty low gearing... My 4x4 3.0L is getting about 15 -16 in town in 4x4 nad usually gets around 22 -23 highway. my friends 2wd 3.0l averages 20.

Tune up time?

I have done just about all the tuning up i can do. lol. New plugs maybe 2 months ago, Motorcraft Platnium plugs. High performance air filter back in July. Plug wires and coil last September of 2008. It does need an oil change but that's getting done soon. So other then that i'm not sure what else can really be done. I'm not sure what my gear ration is off hand, i have looked before the number just slipped my mind. My mechanic seems to think it's just that my fuel system needs a really good cleaning. I don't know i have been trying to figure it out with not much luck. Only time the mileage really increased was when i put seafoam in the tank. It even got horrible mileage before i put the lift and tires on. Maybe 17 mpg at best but normally it was closer to 14 or 15 mpg before the lift and tires.

Thanks for the help folks. Oddly enough i put it on today and it runs better. lol. I started it at school and had to finish it at a friends so i drove it without the muffler. Anywho it ran so much better i actually set a record and was able to do 65 mph on the interstate without fighting it and on 25 miles i haven't even used a 1/4 tank where as before i would have. So i'm loving this thing and it's probably the best choice i ever made.
