hey guys my buddies engine blew on him. he has a 98 4x4 ranger 5 speed 3.0. i suspect it was the rear main seal that went because when i was under it undoing the transmission bolts i noticed a oil drip running from the top of the oil pan. We got the old motor torn all the way down. we are just waiting for his clutch to come and then we can get this thing back on the road. Now we are swapping in a 3.0 from a taurus . its got 70,000 on it and if you guys got any pointers or anything let me know. here are the pics

You need to put a set of RWD head gaskets on the new motor otherwise it could run hotter than normal due to the coolant flow difference from the FWD 3.0 to the RWD 3.0. Other than that swap all the ranger accessories & intake & you should be in good shape.

thanks we ordered a top end kit, a oil pain gasket, and a water pump gasket so i think we should be good to go. any members from jersey wanna help?

Glad you mentioned the WP, some FWD are shorter than the RWD Ranger setup & you cannot easily tell until you get the pulleys on & see that the belt alignment is wrong. Everything else is just swap from old motor to new motor. I also used the FWD pan on mine as it was a little different but still cleared the cross memeber, It was a last minute part that I did not think about, due to the fact the old one had about 3 extra holes per side in it. The FWD pan has been fine.

I cant say for sure as I had headers going on mine, so they came off anyway.
