3.0 engine replacement

its a 1999

Well that makes a big difference. For some reason i was under the impression it was a 94'.....

Anyway, yeah...a 5.0 or 4.0 OHC from an explorer would swap in nicely. Just be sure to grab the wiring and ecm.

well the only reason i dont wanna rebuild mine is that i had to crank it several times after i bent the rod so i know ill have to get a lot of machine work done and i need this truck running asap so i could rebuild around 1000 plus with my slow mechanic skills about 40 hours of work which i dont have the time for so i can pay 600 dollars extra for the motor save my motor and maybe do some work on it down the road and drop it back in when the other one goes out

yes , but when you buy the new engine , you have to turn your engine in as a core , or else they charge like 300 bucks extra , and you will wind up putting alot more than 40 hours replacing the engine , i prolly have around 50 to 60 hours , over a month and a half period , of my time invested in swapping in the new 3.0 into my 2000

its the same motor im takin out just gotta bolt everything in i can drop a new motor in in a day if i start in the morning maybe 2 days at most

trust me , i bought the exact same motor as came out of my truck , mine is a 2000 , the engine is out of a 98 , they were both 3.0's , no matter how hard you try , it will take at least 3 days , it is a PITA to swap these , as the engine bay has very little room to begin with , idk where you live , but i had problem with rust too , idk if your is automatic or manual , but getting the engine to line up with the trans takes forever , and some of the bolts are impossible to het at , but that is just my experience talking , good luck and have fun

thanks ill let you know if it takes me more then 3 days but also ill have a little help setting it down in there lining everything up,hell if im lucky i might even get an extra wrench turning for me

Go with a junkyard motor from a reputable local salvage yard and have them install it and I think you'll be happy with the results. Good dealers make sure that the engine that they're selling you is good to start with, and if something were to go wrong then they will guaranty the engine and the installation, so you're not out anything if the engine were to die.

i am not doing this myself , it is me and my stepdad doing the work
