Are they the same or no? My 3.0 PS pump leaks like an SOB but I have a nice 4.0 PS pump just sitting around..

Go to any auto parts website and look up a PS pump. See if a 4.0 and 3.0 use the same part number.
Edit: Just went to Napa's website and the part numbers for a 3.0 are totally different from a 4.0.

I'm pulling the 4.0's PS pump off soon anyway. I'll compare and throw it in the junk pile if it doesn't match up.
