3.0/4.0 Exhaust Manifold Interchangbiltiy

Hi everyone,

I am moving forward with the 4.0 OHV swap into a 1967 Sprite (mentioned in another thread) and my next biggest challenge appears to be exhaust. The engine compartment is just big enough for the 4.0 but the exhaust needs to come slightly forward and down to exit through existing holes in the Sprite chassis. Since the Ranger 4.0 manifolds go backwards, I have been looking at cheap options to make it go in the right direction. I have found that 3.0 v6 manifolds from an early taurus both go exactly where I would like them AND are extremely narrow to assist with the tight clearances within the Sprite, and they look incredibly similar to the 4.0 manifolds (the ports are perfectly round however while the 4.0's are "squished" a bit).

I was hoping that with a little bit of grinding to match up the ports as close as I can, these can fit, can anyone confirm? (bear in mind I dont need great airflow, the 4.0 is going to make a ridiculous amount of power for the sprite as it is, lol)

theyre two very different engines, id be surprised if they are close enough to work. if youre friendly with one of the parts store guys, they might let you compare exhaust gaskets without buying anything.

Dammit, yeah, they are way different. Gonna find some 2.9/4.0 headers to modify instead.
