I have an AOD in my truck and want to have 4wd back again. What can I do besides swap trannys. Can I run a divorced setup? If anybody ahs done this pics would be great

Anybody? i have a buddy who has a divorced trans from an F-250 or 350 I believe. Anybody have pics of a setup like that?

i converted mine, had to change the output shaft and housing.

I figured you could change the housing and shaft but really dont wanna have to tear into the trans just yet. I would rather use a divorce setup to improve my driveline angles and get stronger tcase. I shredded the one behind my last 4 speed

a divorced case by it's nature of being longer will make your rear
driveline angle much worse.

Your best bet is to find a 4x4 AOD.

It should be about the same as it was with my old motor and trans. Does anybody have pics of a divorced setup in a ranger?

N, it won't because the 4x4 trans is invariably shorter than the 2wd model there is a practical minimum length to the driveshaft to correct them, plus the input yoke on the case and considering just how many divorced cases there are around....

No, you are living in a dream world.

Because what matters is the total "package length" from the bellhousing to the rear output yoke of the T-case.

It's gonna be longer, which means there ar emore things to route the front shaft around and the rear shaft will be shorter.

Okay thank you mister short answer.

For the front driveshaft I plan on doing all this so I can do a SAS. When I do that, the pile of 2" DOM in my shop will get used to make extended radius arms so I can do away with the cruddy radius arm crossmember. Then I can make a stronger one with 3/8" or even 1/2" plate to retain frame rail strength and be able to clear the front driveshaft and I can clock the transfer case down to clear it. For the rear axle I dont have a problem buying C-Channel and some 4" 3/8" wall square tubing and extending the rear frame and making a new crossmember so I can extend my overall length to reduce my driveline angle.

Now even though I run a fab shop and can do all of this, I dont want to if is isnt nessacary. So my question remains does anybody have pictures of a divorced case in a RBV or a link so I can find one. If you can even tell me what transfer case I can use I will make it bloody work myself.
