2wd into a 4wd . . . not sure how to start . .


on the axel i would clean the tube out and change the oil. you might as well replace any seal that is leaking and change the fluids . it will just be easyer and make less work in the long run.

X2............btw the two axles should weigh about the same unless one of them is a 8.8 and the ohter is 7.5??? Or is there some difference that I'm unaware of?
 
After months and months of puttering around, I am back to tackling this project. I have pulled the everything off of the trucks (engines, trannys, t-case, driveshafts, rear axles) now I am staring at an empty engine bay and preparing to grind, cut, weld, bolt etc so I can switch the cross-members (2wd to 4wd) and change front axles, and put it all back together. It is nice to see it coming together !! Nate dog there is a difference between 2wd and 4wd rear axles, the 4wd ones are much beefier . . . larger drum brakes and such.
