It finally rained after 3+ months of draught here at Charlotte, NC. We got about 3in in my area, which is more than enough for me. So i slapped some chains on and went to my new wheeling place (about 2 min from my house)
It did really well, some spots were as high as 2 feet, but I didn't get stuck and had a blast wheeling the old truck.

Sorry no action shots :not_i: a friend of mine with a jeep was gonna show up, but he chickened out, something about his girlfriend dosn't want him to brake anything. :idiot:

man I always wanted to get some tire chains and go offroading haha

i love the look of red mud, it's just to bad up here we have this peat bog/clay mucky sticky stuff. it would be nice to find a nice big mud field or something to rip up in, sometimes living in the Great White North has it's drawbacks.

Looks like fun, i never thought to use chains in the mud, how did it do?

Yo,
I was under the impression that if the ranger had the factory fender flares, that it was a 4x4. Is yours not a 4x4? or is the 4x4 broken?

It's like day and night. I could not even think about doing all that without the chains. I was even able to come to a stop in the middle of all that muck and take off again without spinning a wheel.(that says a lot for a 2wd open diff)

Its a 2wd thing...as it says in his sig.
Thanks Danger88Ranger

Tire chains in mud! I learned alot about that the summer I spent on a fracing crew with Trican. I was driving a 24 tonne Kenworth and tire chains in mud works fantastic, especially if you chain up all four sets! Even the trucks on the crew that had to drag a triple axle trailer throught the mud could do it (most places) with chains on. And, they help climbing logs like you wouldn't believe!

Nice pics. Where is that trail at? I'm always looking for good spots around here.

2wd is very fun in the mud. You get more of a rush b/c you have a higher chance of getting stuck real good. 2wd muddin is not for those who do not want dirty clothes. A lot of times i have gotten out in a 3ft deep mud hole to hook up the come along. All in the name of good fun. hey (anglosaxon) try taking that truck into some rocks that is when 2wd offroad is really fun and sometimes expensive. (lots of burnt up clutches and tires)

Hmm, 2wd's busting donuts in an open field, no wonder we lose places.

The property belongs to Duke Power. I have talked to the representative and they do not have any plans for the property and therefore don't care what happens there as long as no one gets hurt and it does not become a dump. (My friend and I keep that place as clean as possible so everyone can enjoy it, trucks and 4wheelers.)

Thanks for your concern.

Here are more pics from few days back without the chains:

My dad came out to play in his 4x4 f-150 with street tires.
