My credo
My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
Many years ago I had a 1990 2WD Ranger, and had an ID here - but I have no idea what it was any more! I just picked up a 2004 2WD std cab Edge. It's got the 3.0 and an auto. Just drove it home tonight, and I'm pretty amazed at what condition it's in. Even has 4 brand new tires - they're Goodyear Wranglers, hardly my favorite but a fair bit better than the worn out old mismatched ones on everything else I looked at.

I've got some minor trim things to look at, and I'll be doing the camshaft synchronizer, but for now it looks like I can just drive it.

Glad to have access to the information here!

Way to go. Welcome back

Welcome back!

I really like this little truck. I had wanted a manual trans, but this 3.0/auto is a very nice drivetrain, and seems perfectly suited to a ~3100lb truck. I'm not looking for serious performance, but it's got a good feel.

I had a 99 3.0 single cab 2wd and was pleased with the power.

Finally got a picture! Not too thrilled about the bug shield but there's time to remove that...

Very sharp spec, I really like it. Maybe some of the later clear corner lights would make It look a little better but not bad at all

That looks like a pretty nice rig... clean.

So this being your second Ranger Rodeo... I'm sure you have plans on where it goes from here. Care to share what the plan is?

I wish I had kept my steelies. They were immaculate, just like those.

Well, you'll be disappointed - my plans are to keep it just like that for as long as possible. OK, it may get a new stereo and a cat back exhaust someday, but that's it. This is my new car - heck, it was made this century! My other car is a '99 Mercury Cougar with a 2.5 Duratec V6 and a 5spd. The intent was that the Ranger would need less work, and allow me to haul supplies for house projects.

Once I was a consummate car guy, my wife raced SCCA and I was the mechanic. Cars were what I thought about all the time, and all my stuff was modified. At 55 I long ago found other things more important to me, and it takes way too much time keeping the equipment running as it is. I can't stand stuff that's not working properly - I've already been to the junkyard to get a couple of small things that needed replacement. Still, there's always something faster or tougher out there, I just enjoy a nice machine that works well as it was designed to. I'm impressed with this one so far.

That's a nice looking Ranger, good luck with it.

I just rejoined myself, i had a id (I now forget) almost 15 years ago when I had a '88 4x4. Now I'm back with a '87 2wd.

Should have kept the old '88 !

I just picked up one of those amber markers at the junkyard as one was cracked. Not really seeing how clear lenses make much improvement, and didn't see any of them there.

Yeah, I like them too, and if they get nasty I can sand them down and repaint them. Then again these would seem to be 15 years old and holding up well!
