Thanks Brian, and no I havent made it back yet, its still sitting in storage at Smith & Allen's. Had them do some work for me while I've been gone though, so it should be in primo shape when I pick it up in a couple weeks.

i replaced the 88 a couple weeks ago with an explorer and the truck is in the garage waiting to decide what i am gonna do with it

Whyd you replace the 88? it was in semi-decent shape if memory serves...even if the bed was a different color than the cab, lol.

well i found a 1 owner explorer with 114k newer tires,brakes,battery and a brand new radiator for $800. so it was a no brainer that if i didn't buy it i would be kicking myself for passing on it. and the slave went out on the 88 so i am thinking of a 5.0 conversion along with a sas because the 2.9 doesn't really care for the 35 tsl's

yeah I remember those TSLs, seemed like the 2.9 was struggling a bit with em to me too. Dont you have 4.10's right now though? shoulda been able to handle em alright, or so I woulda thought.

low speeds were ok but out on the highway in high winds it couldn't get out of its own way. i love the ex it is more comfortable that the truck and gets better mileage also. and it is one color instead of 3

I think a 5.0 swap would do the 88 some good, with those TSLs on it. Should be able to do it pretty cheap, with all the old fords running around the area and seemingly endless amounts of them in the junkyards too.
