I am thinking about putting a 2nd gen square body front bumper on my 97. I was told the corner gaps are going to be huge. Nobody has any pics or suggestions about it. Hoping y'all can provide some pics or other ideas.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say not worth it. I mean what do you gain by putting a second gen bumper on?

Its not just going to have huge corner gaps, it is going to look really stupid and out of place. The 2nd gen bumper is straight. The 3rd gen front end is curved. Frankly there is no way to make that not look like it isn't straight out of Beverly Hillbillies.

Thanks guys. I basically hate the tapered in bumpers. I'm looking for something that isn't too aggressive, and a little different. I might just do the explorer bumper

Third gen bumpers are freakin' heavy and, I think, ugly. They may be designed for the front end and all that but there must be 80 lbs of extra metal just hanging there...

I put a 92 front end on a 96 frame and it was fine because it all matched the 88 cab...

There are some nice round tube bumpers with push bars on some rigs that look good...saw a few in junkyards...just measure twice and cut once...
