I am in need of a rear sump oil pan for my 289 swap into a 2000 Ranger. Also looking for exhaust manifolds/headers for stock heads . Any advice or instruction would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to use a rear sump 302pan.

Same for headers.

I used some 66 Galaxie manifolds(C6AZ prefix) on my 351 but I suspect some early 289 Hypo manifolds would work, too.
For the oil pan, I got one for a 90-91 Crown Vic cruiser with a 351- it's the same one sold for 351 Fox body swaps and cheaper than the Ford Performance part. A Fox body 302 pan and pump pickup should work for you.

Maybe a truck pan, or a double sump 302 pan from a Fox body Mustang or Crown Vic/Grand Marquis. You'll need the pickup tube to match... keep your dipstick situation mind too if you have one mounted to your 289 pan.

I used mid 70's truck 302 manifolds on my engine and am very happy with them.

i need to find a sbf swapped ranger for a good price. i bet that would be a fun truck.

i am past the point of wanting to do that kind of swap myself. i would rather have one already done, ha ha ha

quit doing swaps because people that are not involved in the process end up throwing it away because it's too expensive to find anyone to work on it.

i gave away thousands of hours for free.....

never a good idea to not do it yourself or with the crew doing it

I dont mind working on stuff if its already together. But my sbf into my wrangler took a year to do because i got annoyed and just left it for months. Same with this bmw swap, and i have done this swap multiple times but cant get fire this time. So now i am annoyed and its been about 6 weeks.

A buddy is a Bimmer-head... what BMW swap you be doin'?

just swapping from fuel injection to carb on an 84 318. ran fine the first time i started it after swapping to the older bmw intake and the weber carb but once i shut it off, i have no spark anymore. i checked all kinds of wires, cap, rotor, plugs, even swapped another distributor but nothing. so now i am annoyed. i feel like putting hte fuel injection back on and seeing if it runs so i at least i could drive it around the yard because the weathers warmer. the cold start system quit working, and one of hte parts is no longer available, is what led to the carb swap. cheaper to buy all the stuff to swap it then to buy that one part, if i could even find the part. i have read the distributors wear out and the aftermarkets ones only last a few years so i figure that once i get all the kids jeep stuff out of the way, i can push the car back out of hte garage and take both distributors apart and see whats going on. i had two 84 318 bmws but it turns out there was a change sometime in the year and the wiring harnesses got a big change at the distributor end so, of course, the two cars i have had the two different ends on the harnesses making it very tough to swap distributors without having a way to fix that plug. one has a round plug and one has a square plug

swapping to hte weber on my other little bmws, from fuel injection, gained me about 5mpg and definitely made the car feel quicker.
