28 to 31 Spline?

So this might be a crazy question as I am still learning the parts to an axle, but I have a 28 spline open 8.8 on the verge of buying an ARB, but what parts make the axle an 28 spline? Just the axle and carrier? My idea was to buy a 31 spline ARB and 31 spline axle shafts or is there more too it?

the bearings are bigger on the 31 spline. its not possible to convert the 28 spline to a factory 31 spline. there may be some sort of conversion kit that i dont know of for the 28 spline, but it would still use the smaller 28 spline bearings.

Places like Moser and Superior Axle make 31 spline axle shafts to go in place of the 28 spline axle shafts. You then only have to buy a carrier.
