I have a 28 spline, on a Dana 35. I made an ass out of myself (assumed) that 28 spline meant Dana 28, and 35 spline meant Dana 35.
I learned that is not the case. I'm sure nobody has ever made that same assumption:idiot:

Did you have another post? Then deleted it?

I counted them more than once, but I'm not going to take it apart again, I'll take your word it's only 27. If I can't count right the first or second time, why would I get it right the third time?

Why do you think you have a D28?

If it's the trick in your avatar it's more likely a D35/28 hybred.

I know is It takes Dana 35 bearings and seals.
Walks like a Duck, Sounds Like a Duck! Must be a Duck??
Is there such a thing as a 28/35 Hybrid?
Can you tell from the picture? (10 bolts!)
Why do you think I have a hybrid from my avatar AllanD?

If the housing is smooth, its a 28/35 hybrid. If it has "ribs" its a full d35. A lot of 3.0 and 2.3 trucks in those years got the hybrid. Its a d28 diff with with d35 axles, beams, brakes, ect.

Snap a pic from the driveshaft side...
