265/70R16 vs. 265/75R16. Pics???

I'm getting a new set of BFG A/Ts in the next few days, but I can't decide which size. I think I've decided to stick with my factory 16" wheels, but should I go with 265/70R16s (31x10.5) or 265/75R16s (32x10.5). The 70s have a D load rating and the 75s have an E rating. Pros and Cons to each?

Any photos for comparison would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Here's my 07 (don't have this one anymore) with 265/75/16's (also a 2" TT and rear shackles) on it. I prefer them because of the exytra little bit of height over the 265/70's. I don't think the load rating of either would matter too much on a Ranger.

Not much difference but the E's are a 10 ply 1-ton truck tire that will ride hard and get flat spots every time it's parked overnight, especially in cold weather. They'll rattle your teeth for a while until they round out. I'd recommend the 265/70's.

I've got the 265/75/16 E rated BFG ATs on the sport trac. They're alittle stiffer, but I like the feel. No problems at all with them, no rubbing with a TT and shackles. They definitely look good and give the vehicle a more aggressive look.

i remember the old bias ply tires doing that, not the newer radials. they really aren't 10 full plies any more. the new compounds they use can carry the equivalent load with fewer plies and thus get the same E rating. i've been running E rated tires for 4 years now and they have never flat spotted on my truck. and winter temps here are consistently below zero and can get below -30 on occasion.
just my experience.

btw, i'd go the 265/75's just for the added inch of clearance on a 4x4.
but that's just me.

Been running this size for about three-four years, winter and summer and I've never had a problem with flat spots.

I went to Discount Tire today and did some comparing. They were even willing to mount one of each size just so I could see how they looked.

I just had these tires put on this past week. They are 265/75R16. I think they look just right. Not small, but not huge and stuffed in the fender. Either way ya go its going to look better than the stock size. Let us know what you decide.

Made my decision!!!

I did it! I finally pulled the trigger. As most of you could probably tell, I REALLY wanted the smaller 265/70/16 to help with power, gas mileage, ride quality (D rating instead of E) and to maintain a more “factory” look on the stock wheels. After reading all of your comments and seeing each tire mounted on my Ranger, I went with the larger LT265/75R16/E RWL - BFG All-Terrain T/A KO. I'd like to thank you all for your information, suggestions, and opinions. I’m including a picture but I plan to take a few “glamour shots” when the weather gets better and I have time to clean it. For now, I’m really enjoying the new treads and I’m very happy with my decision. Thanks again!

Looks good!! I like the 265/75 look myself. The best part is that they look great with the stock rims.

I'm using Belltech 6400 shackles and it's what most guys seem to be using as well. They'll lower a Chevy, but lift the Ranger.
