225 70 14 on back 195 70 14 on front?

Someone told me at one time that putting bigger tires on the back of the vehicle causes the back brakes to work more than the front...which is not the way they were designed...not sure if this is true, but I drove mine with 215 70/15 on front and 225 70 15 on the back for about two years...

I will say that I had plenty of problems with my brakes, but not sure if it was the tire mismatch or if it was simply that I should have done the brakes much sooner than when I actually did them...ended up replacing the rear brake cylinders and the front calipers to finally clear up that problem...sticking both front and back...very annoying and costly...and have since been running just 205s on front and rear without any brake issues at all..

only problem i could see would be in a performance application...

the smaller width tires in front would exacerbate understeering characteristics already found in the ranger...

the only problem would be if it was 4 wheel drive, otherwise have at it, it won't care... your speedometer will be off if it originally had the 195's in the back though...

Lol I have 265/75/R17s out back and 235/70/R17s up front.

I see no ill effects coming from it other than a power loss.

My summer tire setup is 295/50 rear, and 245/60 front. Same height but very different width and it handles great in every aspect.

im running 195R14's in front and 215-70-14s in the rear, no problems for me, its the tire height that would make a difference, if any...
