I noticed something on my "company rebuilt" 2150 feed back carb. while I was frantically looking for ways to make my Ranger pass smog. I pulled the accelerator jets ( I think it is called the air horn) and inside the hollow bolt/screw in the middle is an aluminum weight that rests on top of the steel ball at the bottom. What I found is the one that was in my carb was not the Ford factory one but one that was made to replace it. It was not the same diameter (much smaller) and the ends were not nicely finished like a factory specimen. I happen to have another carb. and compared the two and replaced the funky one with the Ford one. The pickup ran much smoother off idle accelerating up to speed. I am not really sure why but it did make a difference. Made no difference in the smog test.....but it ran better....
