Has anyone seen the Ford Rangers (Utes) produced for the Australian market? Among the engine and transmission options, there is a 3.2-liter turbodiesel and a six-speed manual; with no additional research and development required since it is already manufactured for mass markets internationally, it would be a most welcome addition to the U.S. market.

US market has To conform to US laws. That adds R&D and $$$$

Not likely it will ever be sold here.

Yes, they have been making them since 2011, they are called the Ranger T6, seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ranger_(T6)

We call them the International Ranger

They never met US emissions or safety standards for importing

Ford does use the same dimensions for the 2019/20 Ranger that are made in the US, but not the same drive trains

The rest of the world started off using Diesel, so diesel engines are much more common
Diesel power vehicles never really caught on in the North American daily driver market, gasoline was cheaper and gave better performance from the start

As you can tell at any North American gas station, 14 gasoline pumps and ONE Diesel pump, lol

Unfortunately, there are a few models available to the rest of the world that we will never see here because of the issues mentioned above. Converting one made in the US to the configuration could be done if you have the time, money, and patience to acquire the needed parts. Replacement and repair parts are going to be a future issue to deal with as well.
