This Ford video shows the 2019 ford Ranger Yakima tent, bed rack, and other accessories.

Ford Ranger Marketing Manager Chad Callander is a great guy, and fun guy to hang out with. I can honestly say from discussions we've had in person, he's very passionate about the Ranger, and it's more to him than just a 'project' he's paid to work on.

He was good at the reveal, he did most of the question answering. Very likeable guy.

Ya, he's pretty fun. I'd love to put a trail ride together in Michigan sometime, and get him to come out and see how people use their Rangers and Bronco II's.

I've been using Yakima rack $ystem$ on my vehicles for maybe 30 years,.
it's cool but I've never quite seeing the purpose of putting a tent on top of a truck because every time you need to move you have to fold things up, if
a tent is on the ground you can still move truck

Of course my system is quite a bit more simple just set up for carrying 2 canoes if necessary.
Not trying to hijack the discussion, just trying to get proficient at using the new site.

I've tent camped. It's nice to get camp set up. And come and go as you please. I don't think there's much to this. Probably like opening a huge suitcase.

I haven't tried the truck tent things. But I see a lot of merit in it for overlanding. In that case, you're usually stopping for a night in a place where you wouldn't be running out to gift shops, grocery stores, amusement parks, etc. After setting up camp for the night.

Some of the pros are;
You know you have a smooth, flat surface under your tent without having to scour the area to remove uncomfortable twigs or stones. It is unlikely that a late night thunderstorm will send rivers rushing through your tent. Might help keep small unwanted visitors out. You automatically know if someone is stealing your truck.

Just don't leave the tent before waking up enough to realize you're several feet up in the air.

You can also keep your pillows and bedding in the tent so you don’t have to store them elsewhere.

They are not for everyone/everything but the do have their merits.

As far as the accessories go, are all accessories available on any trim. Can I get the most basic Ranger, and then some of these accessories?

Yes

I like that they are making these options available and covering them. I'm not sure how that would work with say buying a reinforced fiberglass cap and then ordering one of the tents to put on top but it's nice to have options you know will fit right out of the box. I don't think any other manufacturer has gone this far with any of their product line.
