I have a new 2011 XLT supercab, 2.3, 5M, and it seems to me it rides much higher than my neighbors' Rangers, B2300, B3000. The stock 225/70R15 wheels/tires look tiny in the wheel wells. I've read here people saying that ride heights are lower for 2011 than previous years?
I'm not seeing the 22/24/27 expected mpg (I've read elsewhere on this site how much lowering ride height helps this), and there are times when the front end literally seems to bounce off the ground, going over speed bumps (even slow), certain intersections, railroad tracks, etc.
It almost seems to me that the front springs (coil) are too stiff, like maybe Ford is using one set of springs for all 2011 Rangers, the ones for the V6? It doesn't look like there is much space between the bump stop on the lower control arm and the frame though, maybe 1-2" at the bump-stop (I know this is a larger distance at the wheel itself as the bump-stop is approx. midway along the control arm).
Anyway, the vehicle is only a couple of weeks old, and I want to see if there is anything I can do about the ride height and quality. I'm going to go visit a dealer and do some quick height measurements to see if it's just my truck. Any suggestions here?
