I think I found a weird dealer diagnostic feature on my truck by accident. Basically with the truck running in neutral (Don't know if it works in any other gear) but holding the brake pedal and pulling the parking brake twice puts the truck in some weird diag mode. Basically all the dash dials go to 0 but the engine is still running. The check eng light and traction light stay on and the odometer goes to a screen that looks like this ---------- Pulling the park brake handle again makes it go back to normal.

Does anyone know if this is where I get engine codes from if there is one? Also the traction light comes on with my truck randomly, it's always when my truck is idling and just before I got to shift to D the light that looks like (SS) comes on for a second then goes away, does it once in every 200-500 miles or so? Oh I have a 2.3L Auto, Supercab, XLT.

that means u might have something wrong there...
since the TC light comes on, and the TC uses the rear brakes to control tire spin.

There also should also be a plug in under the drivers dash that you can go to most auto parts stores like Napa, O'Reily's or Auto Zone and have checked. They have a hand held code reader with adapters for different makes of vehicles. They can read the codes a little more in-depth usually. They don't charge like a mechanic would either.

You can also use that to re-set the codes to see if it acts up again, my 96 Mustang was picky and needed to have the codes re-set once in a while because the check engine light would come on for no actual reason

Ask a Dealer.... If they say no, Bring to said dealer for repair, its a 2011.

Ford does have some hidden functions. On my 01 Mustang if I hold the trip odometer reset in and start the car it will show a tach instead of miles. On the radio if you push the 2 center station buttons in it will go through a speaker diagnostic. It might be for future use or is used in a different model. Go to the dealer and ask or call the 800 number.

It has to be some sort of self-test mode. That's what the cluster does when you initiate a network test with a scan tool. Or when you start a cluster self-test with the scan tool. Or when you open up the PID menu with the scan tool.

Basically anything that puts the cluster into self-test mode. Can't find a word about it in the owner's manual or the shop manual though. Gonna keep looking, I want to know what this one is.

could be a glitch, I mean it is a computer lol

Yeah, but the parking release doesn't have any sort of electronics or sensors or anything to it. It is just a ratchet release.

I even went and tried this on our 2010 Escape (I know, not the same thing) and it didn't do anything. I might try this on one of the new Rangers at work tomorrow.
