Hello

I just picked up a 2010 Ranger 4x4. It had a few lights on the dash that I have managed to clear up other than the airbag light. It is not on at start up but will turn on with in 30 seconds to two minutes of driving. It turns on with or without a passenger. I was hoping I could figure out the source of the light with my code reader but it didn't show anything. Do I have to go to the dealer to figure out the source? Is there some common places to look first? Would a better OBD2 reader give anymore info? I has not had the Airbag recall done yet. When I booked it in they said that the light wouldn't be related to the recall and they would need to charge me to scan it.

I'm really hoping to have some advice. Ford did a inflator recall with no change. I also had I scanned with a SnapOn Solius machine with the correct ford chip. There was no code and the airbags were reset, this also didn't help. I understand that on some words there is a module under the seat that has a poor connection. If you unplug it and plug it back in it could make the code go away. Does anyone know if this is true for the ranger?

At this point my best advice would be A. Get in there and start checking connections, fuses, contacts, grounds etc. Or B. Pay the dealer to diagnose it.

The thing is, if there's a bad connection, bad ground, etc. The computer will see that and set a code. The computer looks for voltage, ground, etc so the big mystery is why you can't get a code to show up.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything. But a flashing light, and no code is kinda a mystery and while the people here can be a wealth of knowledge, sometimes there's not much we can do with no diagnostic info (aka a code).
