Hey all,

2010 Explorer with the 4.0, 126k miles. I think I know the issue but I guess I just want to idiot check myself and maybe get some more insight into the issue.

Recently, the truck has been having an intermittent issue with idling and running. At idle, it will often run rough. At low throttle, I can sometimes feel it bucking like its missing. It has stalled on me three times. Once was parked at idle. Once was as I was coming to a stop at a stop sign. And once was as I got off the throttle and onto the brake going downhill into a turn (that one had a bit of pucker factor to it). At first, it didn't throw the CEL at all but after a little while, it did.

The codes I got from using a scan tool showed P0053, P0054, P0059, and P0060. Codes for every HO2S. I also performed the engineering mode/diagnostic mode on the dash and it gave me $9318 (Low Battery Voltage) and $D900 (Generic CANbus issue). These codes all occurred within the same time frame.

All this indicates to me that the ECU either has a bad ground somewhere, or it's going bad. I'm leaning towards ground. I checked, cleaned, and tightened the Neg terminal of battery, the ground on the driver's side wheel well directly next to the battery, and the ground on the passenger wheel well, directly next to the ECU.

I've heard there's a ground from firewall to engine and engine to frame, but can't see them from above. Are they accessed from underneath? (Gotta wait until I can change out of my work clothes before I crawl on the ground).

Any other insight would be appreciated, thanks!
