i dont care for chevys at all...but thats no way to treat a classic

ouch kinda makes me thing how my truck would pan out in a wreck

Yeah, it looked cherry from the outside. But I really want to see what the frame looked like, and what all was (or possibly wasn't) under the hood.

I also don't know of any place where it is common to collide with cars that are 50+ years old...

All in all...two less chevy's = :icon_hornsup:

I got rear-ended in my 53 Ford at a stop light.

OTOH, it goes to show that they make them better than they used to. I'm sure most would have thought the boat would have been a better choice but the Malibu's passenger compartment was virtually untouched.

The older cars are the most dangerous of the bunch when considered as a head on opponent. If todays cars with crumple zones ans stuff can stand up to them then surely they can stand up to another current brand plastic monster. The msot dangerous parts of those old cars aside from rock solid frame was the hoods, the old galaxie hoods in the safety films always went through tyhe other cars windshield right where the headrest met the seat. Something to think about. If my car gets a perfect score in a crash test, I hope they ran it against taht tank in the avatar. Common or not.:icon_thumby:

I knew which would win, as far as passenger safety at least. People think that the old cars are better but all they do is transmit the g-forces of the crash straight to the passengers.

oh good lord and i was just riding in my cousins 58 chevy bel air yesterday at the grand national rod run. stiil theres a bigger cool factor with a 50 year old car.

i am pry one of the few people who absolutely hates bel-airs so i'll just keep my mouth shut :D

of course which one would be cheaper/easier to rebuild after a crash?
the bel-air. why didn't they test against 60's, 70's, 80's when they actually thought about safety? to make the newer car seem better you got to think about what they are trying to do. SELL THERE CARS!
plus I don't like throw-away cars :annoyed:

If you read the article. the Bel Air was not rebuildable. I was seriously totaled.

Secondly, the producers of those tests, don't sell cars. I prefer throw away cars to throwing away myself. I am worth way more than some stupid car.
