2008 Suzuki DR200SE "MotoMod"

pretty cool, ive been looking for a super moto bike myself.....

i really like the drz400's and the xr650l's but id love to find a wrx250

i just want something with a decent amount of power to play on, from what ive heard the cross between power and weight the wrx 250 would be great for someone my size with a few mods

ive rode an 03 xr650l, its a heavy sumbitch but has plenty of power

That's what I found, while I like the power of the bigger bikes I can not stand the weight of them. I'm no heavyweight myself so the lighter the bike the better. This thing only weighs around 220lbs so it's just right. The exhaust should help bring the power up a bit, and the styling mods will make it look modern.

My heat shield arrived on Friday so the bike should be going back together pretty quick.

i had the chance to buy an 09 klx 250, i sat on it was super light and felt good. took it for a drive and was seriously unimpressed with the power yet it was still 100% stock with 200 miles but damn it was a turd i tried and couldnt even get the front tire off the ground unless i was reaming on it.

thats why ive been looking for the drz its about midways in the weight and power....sigh one of these days....probably will be atleast a year with a baby on the way before i can get one but whether the wife likes it or not im getting one lol

yours is going to be nice come riding season

Thanks Jon, I'm hoping so.

As far as the DRZ400 goes, dad has got one and while it is seriously up on power it's a lot heavier and a lot taller. Something about the compact dimensions of 200cc class bike just seems to work better for me. Although seeing the the nose of dad's bike sure helped my styling choice of mine.

Funny that you didn't like the KLX. I'm pretty sure my bike has less power but it'll pop the front tire like nobodies business. I've launched that thing hard and it'll keep up with the best of them. My buddy Kevin rides an '08 RMZ-250 and while my bike won't outgun him it seems to keep up just fine on the trails.

must have been the gearing :dunno: he said it will cruise nice at 75 so they must be pretty steep

im sure with some gears and a few mods it would have enough power but bone stock i felt like i could keep up with it to 45 on my zuma

this is about exactly what i want...

Yeah, I don't think my bike will even do 75, it's revved out pretty good at 65. It's geared more like a dirtbike.

That 400 looks pretty nice, dad had a set of Avon Distanzia's on his before that gave it a look like that. Now it has a race spark arrestor and some true knobbies on dirtbike rims. It's my influence for this bike.

So, as it sits right now I have everything lined up to work on the bike. I'm kind of going through withdrawal right now, I really just want to go out and ride. So my plan is to try and get this thing together this week and maybe go out around the block. Crazy idea? For sure. But all I can think of is riding this summer and getting 80MPG.

Here's a photoshop I made last November when this project was still just an idea.

I still need to figure out what I'm going to do with the tail on this bike.

Tonight was a pretty good session in the shop. Had some things on my mind and no better way to deal with them than tinkering on a project:icon_thumby:

First I dug out my new sidepanel and installed the heat shield.

My new "shorty" signal lights. Going to be significantly more streamline.

Comparing old and new, my job looks way better:D

Got the FMF exhaust on. Little bit on high-temp silicone in the slip joint just like the Flying Machine Factory suggests.

With the seat and side panel back on. I'm feeling that much more "motocross" look.

Other side buttoned up. The black with no decals looks really clean.

I got the headlight surround mocked into place. I still need to make a couple permanent repositioning brackets but this is where it is going to sit.

After much fighting I finally got the fender on and centered. I should have measured better before I drilled it.

But, all-in-all the bike looks pretty good. Still need to do some work on devising a method to clean up the rear. now I'm really looking forward to riding season!

Really diggin it. I have been wanting to get rid of my street bike and go duel sport for a while. I might just have to find one this fall to do in the winter... :icon_welder:

you need one of these for your bike...mine was made for a cbr 600

Any more info on the mount Jon, that would be perfect!

I really like the look of that last one too. UFO makes one that's kind of similar.

Looking good, I'm thinking about getting a DS myself for the summer but I may go with a road bike instead. How fast can you get with the 250 cause my dad says a 600 would be the size to go with.

If it's a newer 600cc streetbike your dad is misguided or trying to kill you.
