I am trying to hook up a trailer brake system. Can anyone tell me which wire to hook to on the brake switch. I know it's the one that is only hot when the pedal is pushed but my old eyes don't see very well so if someone knew which color the wire was it would save me some crawling around under there.
Thanks,
Dave...

Have you tried calling to ask a stealership?

Dealer was useless. The brake switch has 5 wires, there are 3 smaller gauge wires that I don't know what they do, the 2 larger gauge wires seem to be the brake switch. The outboard one is hot (red white) and the one next to it (purple white) is the one I wanted. The leads are so short I was unable to get a piggyback connector in and I ended up scraping the insulation and just splicing to the bare wire and wrapping it with tape. I will probably do a better connection later. The controller mounted nicely in a cutout in the console.
There is another switch attached to the brake pedal which is not the brake switch. It has 2 wires which neither are hot (I think it may be cruise control kick off)
All in all it took me 4 hours to install the whole thing. If I could see what I was doing it might have been faster. I would have taken it to the dealer but I have giving them my money.

Good deal... I did one on my 2001 Ranger, but I just got a test light and got to probing until I found the right wire..

Sounds like that was your route too.
