So last winter I was having issues with the factory installed block heater... it was hit or miss if it was working or not. The problem traced down to the cord, and thats an easy fix. Well easy fix eh but I phoned the dealship and asked for a price they told me they would have to order one in for over $100 I asked him 3 times that all I needed was the cord not the whole heating element, just the cord and yeap over $100:shok:. I jump online and start looking around all I seem to find is around $80 or $90:annoyed:.... Am I not looking at the right thing here? all this cord does is plug into the bottom side of the block to keep the block \ oil warm right? there is no computer chips involed here or anything overly hard here right???? Really I should be able to cut the block side off and splice in a regular SO cable with a male end on it right ??

Someone picked up the entire block heater assembly for a 4.0 for $35.

I should of said this was in Canada, Ontario... so at the lest double all the U.S. prices.

The cord is not fancy, but they are not cheap. I've priced them for a few diesel customers and they are not cheap. $100 sounds about right. Check a salvage yard.
