Just making sure in case there's a difference when ordering parts. Currently about to replace the upper control arm, need 1 sway bar link, I might buy one of those aftermarket sets that is basically all new ball joints etc, truck has 120k miles. It's 2WD v6 3.0 automatic. thanks. Another thing I'm kind of worried about though is in case parts are said to fit this truck but might be for the 4 liter 4 cylinder version where I don't want to take things apart to discover I received a mis-titled part and then have to wait for return etc despite I can bring back to autozone but aftermarket online prices are much better rather order online, and I guess most should fit if both 6 cylinder but idk.

Most places worth ordering from will ask you what engine you have, driveline, etc. And then in the notes they may have something also. But after all that, they still make mistakes, but that is life.

afaik, all the coil spring front suspension arms and end links are the same, regardless of which engine or trim. The springs will be different, but the springs should be listed on the vin decal on the B-pillar.

correct, all 98+ coil systems are identical except for the spring rates.

the upper & lower control arms will not interchange between coil & torsion bar systems.

Thanks, so this is a coil not torsion bar system? And that all the suspension parts should be the same regardless if XL, XLT etc?
Forgot to mention there's only 1 door on each side, the floors are rubber not carpet, and there no two mini fold out seats in the area behind the 2 front seats. The windows are manual crank and the mirrors are manual adjust.

Not a Sport, since the bumpers don’t match the body paint.
From my Ranger days, XLs had vinyl floors and seats while XLTs got carpet and probably had power windows and locks in 2008. My ‘94 XLT had carpet and cloth, but manual doors.

You could take the VIN to a Ford dealership and find out for sure. Steel wheels, black bumper, and black grille tells me no higher than XLT.

The look and description of your ranger looks to be a plain base model. Definitely not a sport as bumpers are gray and not color matched to the truck. Ford did some strange configurations with rangers.

Ranger xlt emblem had carpet, 60/40 seats, power steering for all 4 cyl engines,.both had manual or power windows, tach or no tach, all xlt rangers came with 4 or 6 cyl, came with auto or manual transmission. Same with ac some did and some did not.

Ranger xl emblem came with vinyl floor, rare ones had carpet, most had vinyl bench, some came with 60/40 seats again rare ones got that. The xl came with 4 or 6 cylinder engines, auto or manual transmission, tach or no tach, same with ac.

Ranger only emblem were vinyl floor, bench seat, most of those came with basic as can be with the 4 cyl and manual transmission with no power steering, ac etc. Some plain rangers did get the 3.0 with a auto or manual transmission. Check your ranger emblem and see what it says under ranger..Will be xlt, xl or says ranger only. If it says ranger only then you have just a base model.

Many years ago I had a 1994 4.0 5spd short bed single cab 2wd ranger that was a xl model. It had a 4.0 5spd with ac, carpet, 60/40 and a tach..that was a rare ranger in that combination. Ford definitely did a small amount like that. It was a fun truck. Only had a short time, sold to an old friend who needed a truck.
