Hey guys, my dad's 08 escape had a torque sensor malfunction in the steering column... Were working on fixing that, but I was wondering how hard it would be to put a standard hydraulic power steering system in. From what I've read and experienced, the EPAS system in these escapes are notorious for breaking. His is a 2.3 engine, manual trans.

It will be easy to fit parts to it. It will be nearly impossible to make it a drivable vehicle. That EPAS system is tied into too many other things, including the traction control. Upset that and it will detune the engine until it make the car undriveable.

Ah... Guess that's the drawback of newer cars... Not much room for modding... Thanks for the reply!

Have a dealer check OASIS, there was a program on EPAS problems and they might be able to fix it on Ford's dime.

That's a good point. It was a safety recall, so no expiration, it was on the torque sensor, and even if it was done, the new one may be under SPW.
