Will 63" Chevy leafs from a 2008 silverado be the same at the pre 98 ones used in the swap? i believe these came from a 4wd. There are three leafs if that matters. Thanks.

I would say as long as the leaves are at the correct width and are 63 inches you may be okay. Though hopefully the center pin is where it should be so the ranger axle stays where it should.

For the record, this is about the leafs I am selling him. I have done the measurements, the leafs are 2.5" wide, 63" eye to eye, and the center pin is exactly in the middle. From what I can find all the measurements are the same as the 88-98 springs.

I found this link here, they sell new spring packs, and have all the measurements, just different load capacity for the number of springs.

99-11 springs.. http://www.generalspringkc.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=16&pg=1

88-98 springs.. http://www.generalspringkc.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=15&pg=1

Ok guys I have the springs and they have two leaf and an overload. I have 6in lift I'n the front. How is my rear ride height gonna be if I take out that overload and use stock blocks with my belltech shackles? Am I not gonna get the height everyone else is since it would only have two leafs? I have a set of explorer leafs I could add from if needed...

So does anyone know why these only have 2 springs and an overload instead of 3 springs and an overload?

Mine came out of a 90's truck and I have 3/4 ton ones. I think I have 4 leaves and then the overload and I got 6 inches of lift in the rear from them and that is also running the chevy drop shackles AKA the belltech 6400's and kept the factory lift blocks too.

I guess that's how the newer Chevy leafs are..so my question is can i just put the lower leaf from my explorer pack into the Chevy pack and have it perform the same as a 88-98 63" pack with 3 leafs and an overload? or should i just sell them and get an earlier set?

Can't say it'll perform exactly the same, but there's no issue with mixing leaves in a pack as long as they are the same width and follow the proper taper (each leaf progressively getting shorter).

Thanks Junkie! yeah idk what i'm going to do yet. My brothers 01 silverado has the same leaf pack as the one i have and his is 4wd. I wish i knew for sure why chevy switched up the amount of leafs.

my guess would be different ratings... Just because there are more leafs doesn't mean that it will hold more weight! Each leaf is rated for inch pounds (amount of weight to compress the spring 1 inch). So by mixing the springs you can get a variety of ratios.

I am headed down the road of 63's in the next month or so.. A buddy of mine has them on his truck and he gets mad flex out of them.

I looked at 08 ones a while back and the main leaves were thicker (they were 2 leaf and an overload) than the more popular 88-98(99?). While the weight capacity may be the same for their intended use, I don't think they will flex too much. That said, I have not seen them in action on either a crawler or prerunner, but if it's just lift your looking for then it may be an option.
