hey im working on a swap getting the parts together, i was wondering if any one has done a swap ike this, i have a dana 35 from a jeep rubicon with an e locker in it i was going to use a set of jeep 6 inch lift springs, the stock jeep drive shaft and a super lift cv shaft maited together with a slip yoke, im going to use a set gage radius arms. now for my questions. dose the transfer case drive the front diff at all times? im not sure so i thoght id ask the best place i know of. what have others used for front coill baskets on the frame i am perpared to move the mounts on the dana but i was just wondering what would be the best to get. and how about stearing boxes tho thats realy the only thing i cant figure out my self what do you use from what , or what have you used in the past , right now i have the stering rack i know i can mount a stering box, any info would be awsome!

The front axle from a jeep should be either a 30 or a 44. If it really is from a rubicon it should be a 44. The t-case does not drive the front all the time but the shaft will turn all the time as there is no disconnect. Don't know the answers to the other questions.

Forget the Cage arms, If your using a TJ front axle which if it is from a rubicon would be a D30/D44 hybrid. (It has D30 Tubes and outers with a D44 Pumpkin (which isnt a real D44 anyways) Why go through all the trouble of using cage arms when a set of Jeep radius arm Long arm's bolt right on to that axle. and they would be cheaper, since cage arms are like $700.

well the tags i took off the dana i found all the # on it pointed to a 35, and the tag # on the front cover said dana 35 3.55 and it came with the e locker from the factory, im not saying your wrong but the info i found pointed to 35 and as far as i thoght thy only came with 30s and 44s.

thing is i have the gage arms already from a previous project so i already have them , in any other situation i would totaly agree

That axle isn't from a Rubicon then (there's also no such thing as a Dana35 solid front axle)
Rubicon axles are D44s with 4.10 gears.

What's the B.O.M. number on it?

well thats why i asked i had no idea, like i said i just asked my mopar dealer and thats what they told me so im going to take your word on it but just one question whats in the back of my truck then as far as i knew it was a d35, but that is not inportant to me i am more conserned with im more conserned with the steering and the coil mounts cause im using it as a daily driver the front stering is going to resemble the the rubicon as close as posible tho.

Well your mopar dealer is wrong, There is no such thing as a factory D35 front solid axle. And the only axle offered in the Rubicon is the hybrid D44.

Rangers either came with a 8.8 or a 7.5 depending on the model.

Dont bother with the Y setup steering. Run a stand alone tierod. with the draglink connected to it.

Most guys run a IFS Toyota Steering box.

but just one question whats in the back of my truck then .

Well...

What's the B.O.M. number on it?

If its a Dana axle, it should be stamped into the face of the axletube (usually on the longside tube). It'll be a 6-digit + 1 digit number beginning with 6 (6xxxxx-x). The 6 digits will tell you what it is.

thx for the info on the steering box and the tie rod info that will definetly make things more simple and yes you are right on the d44 with the 35 tubes guy i talked to oviosly knew FA, so thx for straitning that out.
hey toreadorranger what year of toyota would that box come from ?
but i realy need more info on the transfer case dose it dissconnect from the front drive shaft ? i know they have to be vacume engaged a the front hubs , but i dont know if the front diff is driven in two wheel drive. that is the major deciding factor in this build every thing else i can do iv just never done a swap that i was going to use as a daily driver so its kind of inportant to find that out.

in 2wd it will be just like the jeep. tone rings ect should work out as well iirc.

seems there is a different yoke you can install on the t case to allow normal u joint use as well.

yah super lift makes a drive shaft with the adapter yoke i as just going to buy it and modifie it to my needs with the doner shaft from the jeep.thx alot for the info

well i just picked up a 78 ford f250 4x4 so its now D60s and that means the 40 hybred's are for sale which is going to be much better.:icon_thumby:

Are you sure its D60;s as the only 78 F250's that had the D60 were the snowfighter editions and select quad cabs.
