2007 Ranger 3.0 V6 Automatic 2WD, about two weeks ago I was leaving my dads place, put it in reverse and it shifted hard, drove about 20 miles home no issue, and about 40 miles to work the next morning also no issue. I made it about 25 miles home after work when the trans started to “slip” pulled over and checked the fluid, it was at proper level and clean with no dirty or burnt smell. I tried to finish the drive home but it struggled to grab first gear completely, it would start to go then it was like the clutch engaged but then would grab the gear again, it eventually went into second and I could get to 40mph, if I tried any faster or to even maintain that speed uphill it would slip again. So I ended up just pulling back over and getting it towed home and haven’t had time to do anything with it till today. I went out started it, let it warm up, checked the fluid, which was still at correct level and clean, reversed out of the yard put it in drive with no issue, so I took it around the block, still no issue. Then I took it down a bigger road, drove it to 70mph got to the end of the road turned around to come back then the O/D light started flashing, took it back home but the whole time I drove it today it never hard shifted or slipped. I had a neighbor put his OBD2 scanner on it and it wasn’t showing any code. I need help diagnosing to figure out where to start fixing this.
