a little behind it, I replaced injectors, turns out they were faulty, and I hydrolocked my motor. #4/5 cylinder is bad, don't know the damage yet, will know after work tonight when we pull it.

So i'm pulling my engine tonight, already got it down to the block pretty much.. engine has about ~60k miles. Just wondering what all should I do to the engine if anything? Being as I'll have it out of the truck, it'll be quite easy to do a lot of tasks, so should I upgrade anything while i'm at this point? I know this is a question I should be asking my wallet, but what would be my best bet? I'll take pictures if you guys want some, I just want to make sure i'm not pulling this beast BACK out again..

Might not hurt to do the timing cassets. You already have to take them off to pull heads. Those are the biggest failure item on the 4.0 SOHC and the engine has to come out to do them.

well.. this is the result

Does Ford themselves make a kit they'd sell at Fordparts that has the 3 timing chains/tensioners/casettes etc.? I see them on eBay, I was just wondering if Ford had their own kit. Thanks for your help

That's not all that unexpected given what you said happened. That's actually fairly mild for a hydrolock.

I'm not sure if Ford makes a cassette kit, I imagine they probably do. I know NAPA does make a complete kit that is pretty high quality.

Honestly, you probably only need a rod and rings. If I remember the last time I saw this happen it was under warranty and Ford only approved the injector, rod, rings, and non-reusable gaskets and hardware.

That one really sucked. Guy from NJ was on his way home from Ohio, stopped for gas in Harrisburg, ran into the store, came back out, hit the key, and CLICK, just like you.

Sucks for that other guy! It was horrible that it was in my driveway haha. But you are a life saver. i'm still going to replace the timing chains while it's out. I really appreciate the help man. i'm sure i'll be back with more questions, and I look forward to learning more from you! hah:icon_cheers:

Now i've got the parts ordered and such, now i'm just set on the timing part. I've read there are kits but only up to the 2004 year. What do I do about setting the timing on a 2006 4.0 SOHC? Thanks
