2005 XL SAS - Leafs or Coils?

Hey guys, I have an 05 XL 4x4 and will be looking to do an SAS. I'm working on laying everything out and will begin gathering all of my parts here soon. should I go with leaf springs or coils? I will be going a little highway driving up to about 55mph, but it will not be my daily driver all the time once I do the SAS.

Right, which would be safer for when I need to drive on the road? Just laying out my options...I'm kind of 50/50 on springs vs leafs. I can do either one.. The cost isn't that big of a deal unless its thousands of dollars lol.
 
i think they're both about the same on and off road. i'm sure there are some people that think leafs are best and some that like coils, just personal preference i guess.
 
Coils. There's a reason that jeep quit using leafs when they came out with the TJ. Personally I'd run a 3 link, but a radius arm setup would work also.
 
Coils, Link style suspension is a better design then leafs.
 
Coils all the way, eaiser to get more flex and better ride if done right, Leafs are easier and cheaper but not as advanced.
Also if able you can do Inside frame mounted steering box from like 83-97 Ranger, very common, search newer explorers when they sas thats what usually happens.
 
id go with coils. 3 linked with a panhard.
