I have 2005 ranger xlt 4.0 4wd it has a 8.8 with the factory drums in the rear. I have been considering swapping a 8.8 explorer rear with discs. do i have to swap the whole axle or can i just install the discs on the end of my axle? Will my master cylinder still work? also will i be able to hook up my emergency brake cable? any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated

The backing plates won't fit the small-bearing housing ends on your Ranger axle, you'll be better off just swapping the whole axle.

Stock MC should work fine.

P-brake cables are different. You'll probably have to fab up a new cable bracket and a linkage to attach the Explorer cables to your Ranger's main cable.

thank you for the info the MC was my biggest concern
