I need some opinions about the torsion key leveling kit for the newer rangers! I want to go with 33's either 12.50 or 15.50s on 10 or 12 inch rims on my 05 4x4 ranger. the truck sits so high in the rear stock its not funny! im going to do a 3in body lift and figured that if the leveling kits are working pretty good for folks then maybe i could go with 15.50s and they wont rub and it would do away with the nose dive look at the same time! also i would like to know if 15 inch wheels will clear the rotors or do i have to go with 16's?

I'm going to say this slowly: Crank....your....torsion....bars. Cranking your torsion bars is the same thing as those "leveling kits". The only difference is you get to keep $220 in your wallet instead of forking it over. There are numerous threads on this first page alone, do some searching bud, those "leveling keys" are a waste of money.

^^What he said.

Those 'leveling' or 'lift' keys simply put your bars at a new starting position, crank your bars, and now you've put your lower control arms in way too big of an angle, and you run the risk of blowing out CV shafts, severly accelerated balljoint wear, and the possiblity of not being able to align correctly. Not to mention an even rougher ride. I vote a hell no on the aftermarket torsion keys. Unless you like spending $500 or more every year replacing parts and getting alignments....

Just crank your bars and call it good. There's TONS of trucks out there with cranked bars and even a rear lift device(AAL or shackle), bodylifted on 33's and they look really good. Shoot...I was like that at one time.

You can almost get it level by cranking the bars depending on the bars current condition(wear).

Biggest tire that'll fit safely under a stock 98-07 4x4 is a 32x11.50 or 33x10.50...some run 33x12.50, but backspace depending, you'll rub and will need to trim the valence. both should require some torsion cranking. But....throw on a bodylift, you are perfectly good to go. Why in the world would you want to run 15.50's?

Search is your friend.

:c-n:

Most 15" wheels will fit. Some new Ranger 4x4's still come with 15" wheels from the factory.
Either a torsion twist or new keys will still stiffen the ride (not always a bad thing IMO) and cost you some measure of downtravel (always a bad thing IMO).
Keys essentially allow you to twist the bars farther than the bolts alone will let you, but it still means you are adjusting the front control arms downward.
There is only so much travel built in to the suspension. Geometry is what it is.

15.50 are so wide, and you'd need lots of backspacing for a tire that wide, thus, killing wheel bearings... also, torsion crank do exceed the wear of your front end. But don't worry, i have my t-bars cranked a bit also ha.
