My wife's '05 Expedition has had a relay chattering for a while. The relay chatter is coming from a small black box underneath the dash. The best description of it's location is that it's directly above the parking brake release. The relay chatter is intermittent. I cannot cause it to start chattering but if I push the brake it will stop chattering... sometimes will stop completely, sometimes it will come back after I release the brake. The turn signal will stop it in the same manner and the defrost button will temporarily stop it as well...
A little background info... around the same time my aftermarket alarm (installed by the previous owner) started randomly triggering. It always says that a door sensor was triggered. Also, the cigarette lighter receptacle in the change tray stopped working. I never checked the fuse because the 12 volt receptacle on the passenger side of the center console worked...figured they were on the same circuit but I was wrong... blown fuse #41 and I just replaced it. I can't imagine this being the fix to the relay because I can't see how an open circuit would cause a relay to act like that and it doesn't explain how the fuse blew in the first place...
I was hoping either someone could lead me in the right direction or maybe provide a wiring diaghram that way I could see how these circuits tie together... Any help would be appreciated!!!
