2005 2.3 engine interchange question

My 2005 Ranger 2.3 engine blew up and I am searching for a used engine to replace it. What year engines will interchange? Does it matter what transmissiion it came with?

Check the website car-part.com. If it shows engines from '08 for example, it will work. The computer is programmed to only show what works so if it shows it will go. Best site on earth to find a low mileage engine also. Doesn't matter about the tranny, just keep your flywheel to swap over to the new engine.
