I have had this truck for almost a year. It is my 4th vehicle first non ford and second non ranger. The Canyon has 109K miles and I bought it with 82K. The one bright side is that I owe 1,500 less than what it is worth so I hope to save enough to sell this and pay cash for another ranger. But for now I am stuck. I am going to discuss varies problems and give you miliage the problems started if applicable and solutions I have come up with to fix the issues. ones without solutions are unresolved and thats where you guys maybe can help me.

1. Random refusals to start since 85K. If I wait 10 minutes and crank it again it will fire right up.
2. 98K fuel pressure regulator exploded. I drove to napa 45 miles away(closest place with my part) while dumping gas all over my hot motor. $80 and 10 minutes later I fixed it.
3. 82K tailgate lock is seized. any suggestions
4. 97K cd player quit letting me put in discs. I can put a cd in still if i push it with a credit card.
5. POS BUMPER patially fell of in the front of my truck. it is held on by screws!!!!!! my solution is to find factory front and rear bumpers.
6. 104K dealer and carfax told me truck never in accident. when i removed grill and disassembled front of truck to replace a headlight bulb(inconvenient much?) i discovered damage from a collision(Can I go after dealer for fix?)
7. 100K top of steering wheel worn to metal bar. $12 later I have a steering wheel cover.
8. need brake job
9. 109K. Rubber pad on brake pedal partially disintagrated falling of and reveiling MADE IN INDIA. I bought sport pedals for $20 and its better than stock IMO.

Truck is not at all airodynamic. The gas miliage is aweful with my straight 5 engine getting 12-16 mpg. the truck is not real easy to control at times and a light breeze makes my feel like I got a semi trailer in a hurricane.

I cant wait to get back into a ranger. My issues arent maintenance or wear issues at this point they are simply quality problems. GM needs to go back to the drawing board or maybe out of business. To be fair the silverado/sierra is better quality than colorado/canyon but can't compare to an f150.

Thats because its a gmc. I own a 2010 traverse new and it had problems from the start. They are small cosmetic problems but overall not to bad. IMO GM has let the quality decline during the early 2000's. But recent years i think they have gotten better. But i still wouldnt own a gm truck. I will stick with my fords.

cuz you baught a crap truck.

Judging by the heavy wear (Pedals, steering wheel, brakes), I'd say it was a work truck, or a delivery truck.

Judging by the things I bolded, it was in an accident that wasn't reported, so they hastily repaired so they could trade it in for a replacement.

You can't go after anyone for the carfax being clean, carfax isn't GOD and all knowing all seeing, if there was an accident, and it wasn't reported, how would carfax know? The dealer won't give a crap, you signed the dotted line over a year ago, and have no proof the damage was pre-existing.

Since it has damage, and random no-starts, I'd check for Damaged grounds and/or rusty grounds, or any kind of 'botched' together wiring. It could also be an issue with the factory alarm or PATS key (Have a friend with a 2002 Grand Am that does the EXACT same thing, but was never in an accident)

i agree with dasfinc.

sound like any truck to me...

Just my opinion but compared to a ranger a s10/sonoma or colorado/canyon are just POS tin cans. To me ranger feel like there built like big trucks while an s10 is a cavalier with a truck bed. just my opinion.
I still love all lill trucks. just love the ranger more ;D

yea i work for a gm dealer selling these things. but im happy to climb in my ranger every day after work. They arent built for anything other then driving on the city streets. if you make them work, or do anything other then cruise on the highway, they blow up.

id reccomend getting out of that truck ASAP. that thing is a nightmare. Oh, get you trucks looked at by a mechanic before buying them. Not the dealer mechanic. (seen that done before LMAO)
