Its been awhile since I have been on here. Just been spending all my time and money on my Fairlane. However now I have the problem of my electric transfer case not working. I have a link to all the parts to make the swap happen from a friend who owns a Ford junkyard. I believe if I can get all the parts I need then it would be worth the swap. I just wanted someone who might have done this to help me make sure I get all the parts I need. As far as I know I need, the transfer case, the shifter, the tunnel plate, the shifter molding for the interior, the shifter boot, and the transmission extension with the bolt bosses to mount the shifter. I believe this is it and then its a bolt in. Anyone with some experiance in this please help me out. And all of this would of course come out of a 2002-2003 Ranger FX4. Thanks everyone.

If you want the indicator lights to work, you will need to figure out how to wire it properly with the proper wire harness and sensors. I have no experience doing this so I have no advice as to how to do it. There use to be a website that was dedicated to only twin stick Rangers but the site has been down for a while now. I don't know what happened to it.

What year Fairlane do you have? I have a 69 Fairlane Cobra that I love to drive and show. Are you a member of FCA?

I might have to look into it a bit more then because I would like the lights to work. Just so it seems factory. Plus I like the challenge. If I figure it out maybe I will post something on here to help everyone else out. I just really want to have reliable 4 wheel drive.

I have a 67 Fairlane hardtop. I got it with a 289 automatic for $2000 and I now have a huge list of things I have done to it. 9 inch with a detroit locker 3.89 gears and caltrac bars. aluminum driveshaft, disc brake swap in the front, truck drums in the rear, suspension completly redone, two inch drop coils, 4 speed conversion, battery moved to trunk, and now I am finishing up my 351w stroked to 408. It has all been taking so long but I have been sure to buy quality parts. espeacially on the 408. Luckly I have a friend who's dad has worked at a machine shop here locally for years. I would almost go as far to say he is the best in Cali. I havnt joined the Fairlane Club of America. I should though. I know whenever I go to car shows I am lucky if I even see a Fairlane and if I do its a 64 thunderbolt clone.

I did some research and found the website I mentioned. The address changed a little so my bookmark would not work. It is: http://www.ranger-forums.com/groups/manual-transfer-case-rangers/. You may have to join to get access to the information on there.

I also found a thread that gives a lot of detail on the swap. It is: http://www.ranger-forums.com/f82/rangers-manual-t-case-swap-82479/

Your Fairlane sounds very nice. That is a lot of work but I am sure it will be worth it when you are finished. FCA is great if you are wanting to keep it original but also somewhat helpful if you like to change things.

Wow thanks those will be helpful.

Ya it was in poor shape when I got it and I just decided to whatever I wanted to it. Dont get me wrong the is something to be said for a nice all original as well. 69 Fairlane cobra is a beautiful car. I think Im going to look into joining the FCA.
