Anyone know the size of the factory exhaust pipe on these things? My aunt wants a magnaflow but lives 4.5 hours away. Kind of a long way to go to measure an exhaust :icon_twisted:

Call a muffler shop and they will tell you the size. I guess she is not going to install it herself since she can't measure anything. Better yet, have her call a place near her and have it installed there.

yea, if she doesnt want to measure it have a shop near her do it. but idk why you would want a muffler on a expedition.

Im sure she is more than capable of measuring it herself but she works 14-15 hours a day so I dont want to bother asking her. Single mom with 4 kids 3 horses and a house to pay for means no extra time. There are no reputable muffler shops in her area anyways. She lives in my home town so why wouldnt I want an excuse to go throw a muffler on her XP?

As far as why does she want a muffler on a 5.4L V8 Expedition, why would you want a muffler on a 3.0 or 4.0 ranger? It wont sound half as nice and there are no performance gains that mean crap in our underpowered trucks. She wants it for the same reason we buy half the stuff WE do for our trucks... Just because.

I would guess 2.25" or 2.5" is what it would be. I looked up a direct replacement, and this is what it comes up with.

Not to mention that the factory mufflers had a bad habit of getting nasty corrosive things inside them and then loosing the baffles.

It didn't make them louder, it just made a really awful annoying rattle when you got on the throttle.

No rattle yet but it only has 75,xxx on it. Real nice truck and I bet it would sound great with the mild rumble of a Magnaflow. Guess I'll talk to a muffler shop today and see what they know.
