2003 4.0 deisling

my truck has 123000 on it.i change the oil evry 5/7k with 5/30 castrol syntek blend.just replaced water pump.and new plugs.i dont think it ever overheated.

it sounds like a diesel when i put it under load.

could a bad belt tensioner sound like that at loaded rpm's?belt tensioner squeaks some at idle.

so i ask a legit question and i get a lame answer and some dick who cant get a job at a comedy club.

ive looked at this site and thought there were people here that were knowlegable and helpful.

My 99 did it, they say its nothing. I had it for 3.5 years put 45000 miles on it with no problems. Dont go crazy over it.

Sounds like it's detonating to me, my 2.3 used to do it, you can either use higher octane gas, or just live with it... I just made sure I shifted to a higher gear instead of lugging the engine, it stopped the detonation... You could try some Seafoam, you could have carbon build-up that is causing your problem... It's not that big a deal though...

When you pulled the old plugs, did you inspect them? Plugs can really help shed a light on internal engine problems when it comes to running problems. My 4.0 OHV makes sounds here and there but it's just the engine showing its age. Does it run pretty regular? Like it doesn't bog down or idle rough?

And no..... this site is NOT bs. It's kinda hard to go off of a fragment sentance to come to a diagnosis.

if it is the 4.0 ohc the have a tsb for primary timing chain slap at around 2000-2500 rpm, they also had problems of breaking timing chain cassettes and they make a racket.
