I will try to be brief... I was looking to replace the rear glass, so I needed to remove the headliner. Did that and in the process removed the dome light. While unscrewing the phillips head screws to pull down the dome light, a lot of black plastic started falling out around the dome light housing. After finally detaching the dome light and pulling it down the two wires came loose from the housing and one of them (couldn't see which one) appeared to arc a couple of times against the sheet metal. It didn't occur to me then, but I think that might have been when I blew a fuse. Anyway, after getting everything removed I go to start the truck, and everything seems to work fine. Then I notice that after pulling out of the garage to move the truck, the airbag light is flashing, the speedometer is at zero (while moving, the other gauges seem fine). Getting curious I start trying some other stuff. The wipers don't work. Not sure what else, but the owner's manual seems a bit vague on what fuse does what relative to what I am looking for. Any help woould be appreciated.

In your underdash fuse box, check fuse #26, 10 amp. It feeds your battery saver relay and also directly feeds your map lights. And it feeds the GEM module.

Not sure why Ford wired these lights like this. I got a 2002 f150 king ranch for free because of this same thing. The electric windows would not work, along with some other things. Come to find out, there is a short in the wiring or a bulb socket in the domelight circuit in the roof somewhere. It was blowing the fuse to the battery saver relay and when that doesn't work,, a whole bunch of stuff doesn't work. Funny thing is, I never have completely fixed it yet. I found the wire with the short over in the pass side kick panel, and ended up just cutting it for now, and most everything now works since that fuse doesn't blow anymore. Even my courtesy lights work. But I guess the map lights don't.
