2002 ranger 2.3

have a ranger 2002 with a 2.3 engine i want to put a newer 2.3 engine 03 and up does anybody put one in and it works properly no check engine lights I know its the same engine from 2001 to about 09 but there can be small differences internally most junk yards only recomend 01 and 02 let me know thanks

I couldn't tell you without actually seeing both engines sitting side by side.

Unless you are getting a really amazing deal on an 03 up engine, I wouldn't try it. You have nothing to gain from a slightly newer engine over a good low-mile one that actually fits your truck. If there is actually anything mechanically different enough for there to be noticable improvement, you'd have to either swap PCMs and wiring harnesses, or have your old PCM retuned.

well guys i put a 2007 ranger 2.3 engine in my 2002 it works fine no check engine light runs great
