I've reading a lot on this site about the different types of 4x4 set ups over the years in the Rangers. Since I have an 02 I assume I have a live axle set up?

My problem is when I flip the switch to 4H nothing happens. No sound, no grinding, no action, no motion no nothing. The 4wd has worked a couple times and when I try to use it now nothing happens.

If the hubs were burned out wouldn't I hear a grinding sound of sorts?

Could it be something electrical? I've checked all the fuses and even replaced the front transfer case motor.

Summer is fast approaching and I need my 4x4 to go to the beach. Please help!

Ok, 02 should be live axle. That means no hubs to worry about, so they aren't your problem since you don't have them.

No grinding is good. Do your 4x4 tell tales come on?

It could be a bad switch or a broken wire. You can try checking those but I'm not sure of the exact procedure.

You can also jack it up so all 4 wheels are off the ground and see if the front wheels move.

Did you try replacing the rear transfer case motor too? The one on the front of the case doesn't shift it, its just there for looks.

I have jacked it up, no motion in the front wheels.

I haven't really given much thought to the rear transfer case.

I ordered the 4x4 Control Module from Bluebonnet Ford roughly an hour ago. It should be here tomorrow. Since I work at a body shop I got it at cost. It roughly $100 and some change. It should take me about 6 Minutes to install and check to see if that solves the problem. If not then I'll send it back and go from there.
