2002 Ford Ranger, 2.3 Liter, 3-speed a/t with OD. Took a soft 30 minute drive, pulled into driveway and placed in park. When I put in reverse truck wouldn't move. Went to drive, no movement. I checked ATF and it was full and light red, but the dip stick was very hot. Should I check the filter? Anything else I can check? Thanks

I checked the linkage and it is in working condition.

Is the OD light flashing? If it is, have the codes scanned. It also be your torque converter, or flex plate.

Yes the od light was flahing while I was driving it. What does that mean.
Also when you first start while the fluid is still cold, the transmission works.
Once the fluid is hot, it doesn't work. I changed the filter.

Get the codes scanned! The OD light flashing is an indication that the PCM had detected an error in the tranny. This error code can help you find the
problem. Remember, these trannies are electronically controlled by the PCM.

Thank you Bob. I'll get the codes scanned

Same Problem - Any feedback???

When cold my 02 is ok too. After warmup - OD light flashes and then hard upshifts and slip between 2 and 3.... my scanner can't read pcm codes though...

take it somewhere and have the codes pulled.

however, the trans is probably toast. its usually more cost effective to just throw a reman in rather than trying to fix your current one.

My 2001 is doing the same thing but I am not getting any lights flashing. It only happens when I am on a steep hill. It just kicks out of gear, fluid is full.
